Review: Aftersun

Set in the late 1990’s, the film follows Sophie, an 11 year old girl, on holiday with her father at a fading Turkish resort on the eve of his 31st birthday. Twenty years later, Sophie reflects on the rare time spent with her loving father Calum who struggled under the weight of life outside fatherhood. Her recollections become a heart rendering portrait of their relationship as she tries to reconcile the father she knew, with the man she didn’t.
