Set in Bradford, Ali and Ava is an authentic forbidden love story, a drama that could belong to anyone of us. The film confronts the reality of a mid-life attraction and all the “stuff” that gets in the way of Ali and Ava seizing a second chance at life. While there are serious subjects at play, there is also humour that adds an unexpected nuance to this very enjoyable British drama, full of northern spirit.
